Find the right app that fits you
One thing you will learn about dating apps is every app has its vibe or energy. I used every app in the market Tinder, Hinge, OkCupid, Coffee meets Bagel, Plenty Fish, Zoosk, etc. In the end, the app I felt most comfortable with was Bumble. What I liked about Bumble was not only the aesthetic but also the features it provided. Bumble is known to be the app where women make the “first move”. However, I don’t believe it’s true because men can swipe on you. Men are only able to send a message unless you both match and the woman sends you the first message. Unless it’s a compliment but who doesn’t like compliments? I know it can be a bit intimidating to make the first move by messaging first but I must say in all honesty I feel like the app helped me gain confidence and increase my social skills. Bumble also sets up events to provide opportunities for users to mingle in person. Unfortunately, people in big cities can take advantage of these. However, it is something to keep in mind. This is not an ad but a personal recommendation based on personal experience. I didn’t get anything out of this except my boyfriend. Regardless of the app you choose, I recommend sticking to one app and using it consistently.
The Bio
The bio is important it is what people who are looking for a serious relationship will not skip. It is also the place where you can provide a glimpse of your personality. If you can’t think of what to write. Add a question. A joke. Share a fun fact. Add a favorite line from your favorite show. Anything that can make it easier to start a conversation. I can’t tell you how annoying I found it when people didn’t fill out their bios. Not filling out your bio does not make you look mysterious, it makes people feel like there is a lack of effort and aren’t serious about dating. This may be true but remember we are assuming here that you are. The more information you share about yourself the better. I would recommend making it clear that you are looking for a long-term relationship in your bio, extra points if you can come up with a funny way of communicating that. Not only will people who are looking for the same thing you are be appreciative of your directness but it will show you are serious about a relationship which in return will make you seem even more attractive to potential partners. In a world where everyone wants to seem cool and heartless, you will be a rare gem.
The Photos
When it comes to photos it is ideal that there are a variety of photos of you. Add full body photos, side profile photos, and photos with friends. Share pictures where you are seen having a good time and doing the things you enjoy doing such as hobbies you might have. For example, if you love rock climbing in your free time add a picture of yourself climbing. If you have a pet, share a picture of you and your pet. These photos will show a glimpse of what you are like and might even intrigue and motivate people to want to get to know you. It’s also a good way to help people have an idea of the interests you have which will come in handy during conversations. You might even have some interests in common. If you don’t have many photos of yourself I would highly encourage you to take some. You don’t have to tell people what they’re for and people won’t be able to tell you took them for that reason.
Prompts
Take advantage of the prompts. Just like the bios and photos prompts are a great way to show off your personality. The app Hinge has a cool feature that lets you record your voice. Voice will give people another dimension to your profile.
